Last Day of Grandpa and Grandma’s Visit

Lottie wrote to Daddy about Grandpa and Grandpa’s visit, but on their last day, we picked up Daddy, so we got to tell him all about it in person. But we did a lot, so I thought I would go ahead and share some pictures. Since we had to pick Chris up from the Charlotte airport, we decided we would go early and spend some time in Charlotte since we had yet to do that. First, Mom wanted to go to Mon Amie for brunch, which of course, I thought was a great idea. That place is so yummy.

Afterwards, we headed to the North Carolina Raptor Center in Charlotte. It was awesome. They have 25+ species of raptors. It is the largest raptor center in the US.

The raptor center is part of the Latta Plantation Nature Preserve, so after finishing the raptor center, we headed to the lake to burn some time before picking up Chris.

When it was close to Chris’ arrival time, we stopped at the airport overlook park to watch the planes take-off and land. It was pretty neat.

That night after Daddy went to bed (he was exhausted), we had some Grandma & Grandpa hang out time before bed.

We wished they could have stayed longer. We can wait for them to come back Labor Day weekend! Thank you, Grandpa & Grandma, for all your help that week!!!

Teething...

We think Lottie is teething. We have all the drooling

and chewing on hands

and gumming of toys.

Plus, a couple of nights ago she woke up crying twice, which is incredibly unusual. She has also been a little congested. And 1 day ago, we had The Ultimate Spit-Up. The last 2 things I do before I leave for work are feed Charlotte and then change into my work clothes. The Ultimate Spit-Up reinforced the order of those last 2 things. I had just finished feeding and burping Charlotte and had set her in my lap facing me. With no warning, she projectile spit up 4 times all over me. I mean Spit Up with capital letters. It felt like so much more than she had eaten. I called Chris in to take her, worried that she was sick. However, as soon as the last projectile left her I was greeted with this face:

Clearly, she felt better. Chris took her from me since I was soaked from neck to waist--literally dripping spit-up (of course Charlotte barely had any on her because it shot straight at me). I ended up having to shower both of us before I could head to work. It was very uncharactistic of her, so I think it may have been due to an upset stomach, possibly from teething?

For you moms and dads out there, any teething tricks or must-have toys? We would love all the advice y'all have to offer!

Lottie Rolled Over!

Lottie rolled over for the first time tonight!

Chris sweetly kept her from rolling over this morning, so I could see the first time. The idea of missing all the "firsts" has been one of the things that I am worried about with going back to work. But both Chris and I witnessed the first roll over. Once she started rolling onto her stomach, she did it over and over again. You could tell she was very excited about her new trick. I caught the third one on video:

After the first roll over, she rolled back over to her back, which I caught on video. She only did that one more time tonight since it is harder than rolling onto your stomach.

Well, I guess she is mobile. Haha.

Dear Daddy - Day 7

Dear Daddy--

We had a great day today. Mommy was home, so we all got to spend time together. This morning we played and hung out. Mommy napped a little since she had to take Winnie to the emergency vet last night at 1 am because Winnie threw-up blood. She is fine now. Amber got sick today, too. Mommy figured out they were eating Indian Strawberries, which grow all over our yard. They are a "mock" strawberry and grow like a weed in the South. They are edible, but apparently they can upset dog tummies. We thank God that my puppy sisters are feeling better. Winnie is feeling well enough to really milk her diet of rice and chicken broth.

I really love having Grandpa and Grandma here. I get so much attention.

(notice ever-present Winnie in the background--on duty even when sick)

Do you see how well I am holding my toy in that last picture? I have really gotten the hang of grabbing and holding onto my toys in the past couple of days.

And I know what will really impress you, Daddy. I can almost stuff both my fists in my mouth. I have been working on this quite diligently.

I can also hold my head up all the way while on my tummy. I can't do it for a long time, but I can do it.

And finally, I can roll onto my side. I don't do it often, but I am halfway to rolling over.

While I napped in the afternoon, Grandma and Mommy went to Hobby Lobby and Babies R Us. They bought me some clothes of course. Grandpa just sighed when Grandma came in with the bags. I suspect you will have the same reaction, but girls will be girls. Plus, everything was on major clearance, and you know how Mommy gets about a clearance sale.

In the evening, we went to a local brewery, RJ Rockers. They have a big warehouse room where you can hang out, and enjoy 4 1/2 pint tastings in a souvenir pint glass for $5. Grandpa and Grandma have been before, but Mommy has never been when she could try the beer since I was in her belly. It was very nice outside, so it was pleasant relaxing in the warehouse and enjoying a cold beer (at least that is what Grandpa and Mommy said--I wouldn't know).

(everyone's beverage of choice)

It was a great day. And tomorrow, we plan to play in Charlotte until we can pick you up at the airport. Mommy and I can't wait to see you!!! We love you!!!

Dear Daddy - Day 6

Dear Daddy--

I had a very fun day, but Mommy says I was a little over-stimulated because I am sorry to say that I was fussy this evening (I promise I was still cute while being fussy).

I spent the morning giggling and playing with Grandma and Grandpa. They are the perfect grandparents--I am very spoiled. I barely noticed when Mommy came home from work because I am all eyes or Grandma and Grandpa.

We went to Copper River Grill for dinner. It was yummy (or so everyone said--I am still on my all-liquid diet), and then we skyped with you. Tomorrow Mommy is off, so we are going to have a lot of fun with Grandma and Grandpa. Mommy and I hope you have a great day tomorrow diving. Be sure to stay safe! We love you tons and tons!!

Dear Daddy - Day 5

Dear Daddy--

Today, Grandpa arrived!!! I was so excited to see him. We picked him up and took him to Caribbean Sweetness for dinner. It was my first time to go to Mommy's and your favorite restaurant. It was fun. We sat on the porch because the weather has been so amazing in the evenings. Grandpa and I had a good time before dinner came.

And of course I had a good time with Grandma today.

We read Click Clack Moo before bed, but Mommy isn't as good at the voices as you. I did get tucked in by Grandma, Grandpa, and Mommy though.

Grandma says I am very close to rolling over. I am working very hard at it. Tomorrow is Mommy's last day at work for the week. We are all excited about the long weekend, especially since you come home Saturday! We love you!!
