Update 9-12 Weeks

Charlotte weighs 12 pounds 12 ounces now. She is just growing and growing. She is now in size 2 diapers and is wearing 3-6 month clothing. She is actually almost too tall for her 3 month footsie pjs. She can hold her head up pretty well. Currently, she is trying to roll over and loves to scoot around on her back. Her best friend is who I call Mirror Baby—she loves to chat with Mirror Baby. She has also started laughing—mostly when her daddy “gets” her neck. She is crazy about her daddy. Mommy still is the best at soothing and cuddling when she is fussy, but no one gets her to smile like Daddy.

Every night we read Lottie a bed time story. When Chris reads Doggies, he does such a great job with the different barks that the dogs bark at him. We have a little video of it below. I only caught one bark from Winnie, but we thought the video was cute anyways. It looks like Winnie listens to the rest of the book and then looks exasperated when Chris does the cat noise at the end.

Chris put the boppy on his head and told Lottie he was a lion.

This is how he looked when I told him he actually looks like a flower.

Play time--it is fun to compare it to a video at 1 month old of her playing on her play gym.
She has so much more muscle control.

One morning I found Lottie like this. Almost every night she scoots to the end of her crib, but this was a first.

Sometimes Lottie and I lay like this and talk and play. Lottie likes to grab my hair and then turn and talk into my ear. We have very important Mommy-Daughter secrets.

I think I may have it backwards here.

I forgot to mention this as an accomplishment for this period. Haha.
We think she accidentally fell asleep on her finger. No matter how it happened, it is going in her graduation and wedding slideshows.

Dear Daddy - Day 1

Dear Daddy--

Mommy & I already miss you. It was really sad dropping you off at the airport. Mommy says this is the longest y'all have ever been apart since y'all were married 5 years ago. We are happy you get to go on this trip though. Mommy says you will be helping a lot of kids in the Dominican Republic feel better.

Today, we have mostly been cleaning up the house since Grandma arrives tomorrow. I am super excited! I haven't seen her since I was 3 weeks old. I can't wait to show her all I can do such as how well I can hold my head up

and how I am trying to roll over

and how much control I have over my hands.

This morning during bare bum time, Amber joined me.

I love looking at her and petting her.

Though Mommy said Amber is a very patient and sweet puppy because today I grabbed a handful of her hair and pulled and Amber didn't mind. I guess I get too excited when I find something to grab.

I also scooted all over the place on my play gym. Who needs rolling over? I can cover pretty good ground scooting.

And just so you know, Winnie is keeping a close eye on Mommy and me while you are gone.

We are having a good, chill day even though we miss having you here. We are praying for you. We love you Daddy!

Uncle Brian & Aunt Sarah Visit – Part III (aka Lottie is getting an Atteberry cousin!!!)

Brian & Sarah are pregnant!!!

They are due January 1. Here is their super cute announcement:

We are unbelievably excited. Lottie is one lucky girl. She has a male cousin 11 months older (Grayson) and a little girl due around Thanksgiving on the Hardegree side, and now she will also have a cousin on the Atteberry side. My brother and I did not grow up with cousins our age, so we always hoped we would have kids the same age, so they could grow up together. I am so incredibly pumped that Lottie will have cousins her age on both sides!!!

Brian & Sarah told us while they were visiting. We had so much fun talking with them and even went to Babies R Us to discuss registry items. It was wonderful celebrating with them in person.

Chris also taught Brian some basic OMM (osteopathic manipulative medicine) that he used to help me survive pregnancy.

Brian and Sarah told us by having us unwrap a special onsie they made for Lottie:

They sweetly asked us to help them tell our parents. On July 3rd, we skyped with my parents, Gran & Papa, and Brian & Sarah at the ranch. We had Lottie in her onsie. It went really well, and of course, everyone is incredibly excited. Chris, Lottie, and I really enjoyed being part of the huge reveal.

Congrats Brian & Sarah!!!

Happy 4th of July!!!

I hope everyone is having a great 4th of July.

We are in the process of getting Chris packed for his medical mission trip. He leaves tomorrow from Charlotte at 9 am. We are super excited for him and sad for Lottie & I--we will miss him!

Chris and I also learned that firework holidays are very different with a baby. Some neighbors were shooting some fireworks yesterday night around 11 pm, and we were so put out because they kept waking Charlotte up. We may have to move her into our room tonight since her window is right on the street. Thankfully, she is a great baby and put herself back to sleep each time.

Update 6-8 Weeks

Sorry this update is way over due. I ran into computer troubles and of course hosted Carrie and Brian & Sarah. It was a busy few weeks but so much fun. Anyways, here is the update:

Charlotte accomplished a lot in weeks 6-8, including smiling and talking. She also gained much better control over her eyes and arms and legs. I also feel like we finally settled into a schedule and figured out breastfeeding. These were very precious weeks.

Charlotte also had her 2 month appointment. She weighed 11 pounds 8 ounces (60th percentile), 23.75 in long (90th percentile), and 16 in head circumstance (90th percentile). She also got her vaccinations which led to a sore, sad baby that night. But overall, she is wonderful and healthy--we thank our Father for that!

She’s a talker

This should come as a surprise to no one, but Lottie is a talker. She coos and grunts all the time. She especially enjoys talking to the baby in her play mirror. Apparently, mirror baby is an excellent conversationalist. She also enjoys singing with her daddy as seen in the previous post. These are 2 videos showing her chatting—the first with me, the second with Mirror Baby.

Carrie—the second includes a Lottie sneeze at the very end just for you.

Our girl already has the Aggie Spirit

Chris was singing the Spirit of Aggieland to Lottie the other day, and she was smiling and crooning along. She doesn’t sing as much in this video, but you can still hear her a couple of times. Notice how happy the song makes her. She may have been born in South Carolina, but her blood is Maroon through and through.
