Dear Daddy - Day 4

Dear Daddy--

We don't have a lot to report today. Mommy went to work. She said today was harder than yesterday--kinda like how the second day running after not having run for a super long time is worst than the first day. Plus, I was a little fussy when she got home and tried to feed me, but we are figuring it all out. We don't have many pictures for today. Us girls are just hanging out.

 

 

Mommy also made girlie food for dinner--a Zesty Quinoa Salad. She said it was very yummy but not he-man food at all. Plus, it has cilantro.

 

 

 Finally, Mommy asked me to include swaddling instructions for Grandma because Grandma is having trouble with it, and you are the swaddling genius, so you can make sure I get it all correct.

 

Step 1 - Set up blanket with the top corner folded over like so:



 

  

Step 2 - Place baby on blanket (I like to be swaddled in a SwaddleMe first):

 

 

Step 3 - Place left corner of blanket over baby and tuck it under the baby:

 

 

Step 4 - With baby's legs straight, fold bottom corner across to baby's right shoulder and tuck under baby.

 

 

Step 5 - Fold upper right edge over baby.

 

 

Step 6 - Fold remaining corner over baby and tuck all the way under baby. As you always say, "Take the tail of the comet and wrap it around my shooting star."

  

 

And now you have a happy baby burrito. Ta-da! Did I get it all right, Daddy?

 

Mommy and I hope you have a good day tomorrow. Drink plenty of water! :)

Dear Daddy - Day 3

Dear Daddy--

Grandma arrived yesterday afternoon.

Mommy and I are having a great time with her here--just us girls. She is hilarious--she makes me giggle and giggle.

 

 

She sings songs and bounces me up and down, and it is soooooo funny.

 

 

She took good care of me while Mommy went to work. Mommy said her first day was very hard. She hated being away from me--she loves me so much. But I think Mommy did well, and now she at least has the first day over.

When she got home, Grandma and Mommy gave me a bath. I splashed water everywhere.

 

Mommy also took a video of me telling Mirror Baby how much I miss you (which is a whole whole lot).

 

 

I scooted around a lot in my crib the past 2 mornings (almost turned 180 degrees--my head is normally by the camera). Mommy says I am quite a squirmy worm. I just like to practice my dance move--I am bringing The Worm back!

 

 

Mommy took this picture when I fell asleep after eating this morning. She thinks I look very precious.

 

 

I also wanted to tell you that my puppy sisters are doing well. They are watching over us and the house.

 

 

We survived Mommy's first day back. I know it helped Mommy leaving me with Grandma the first day, and I loved it too. We are thinking about you all the time and send you lots and lots of love!!!

Dear Daddy - Day 2

Dear Daddy--

Mommy and I thought it would be fun to tell you how much we loved spending last week with you. We really enjoyed having you all to ourselves with no med school hanging over you. Even all the errands we ran for your upcoming trip were fun because there was no studying for you to rush home to do.

Mommy, the puppies, and I loved your last minute invitation to go with you to gorgeous Lake Jocassee for your final scuba certification dive.

It was a beautiful day, so Mommy and I really enjoyed relaxing at a picnic table overlooking the lake while you dove.

Then, you joined us for a picnic lunch. It was the perfect day to be outside. We were so glad we went with you.

 

On Wednesday, Mommy and you took me to my first baseball game--Greenville Drive v. Asheville Tourists. I had a great time with our friends from VCOM Brandon, Virginia, and Harrison (my soon-to-be friend, Piper was actually born the very next night). It was very hot, but I did not mind. It was so exciting with all the noise, lights, and people that I was not tempted to nap even once.

 

 

You had the best idea for Thursday night: a living room slumber party date. I love the story of how living room slumber party dates started. It did not surprise me that Winnie and you broke the bed rough housing 3 years ago (did Mommy say "I told you so?"), so Mommy and you slept on your mattress in the living room for a week until you could fix it. Now, setting up the mattress in the living room makes for a fun date night.

 

 

Finally, I am so glad you took me to see the Spartanburg fireworks show. I know why the 4th of July is your favorite holiday, Daddy! They were so shiny and big. I couldn't help but stare wide-eyed the whole show.

 

 

But really the best part was just hanging with my Daddy.

 



 

Mommy and I love you and miss you!!!! Mommy says to remember sunscreen!

Update 9-12 Weeks

Charlotte weighs 12 pounds 12 ounces now. She is just growing and growing. She is now in size 2 diapers and is wearing 3-6 month clothing. She is actually almost too tall for her 3 month footsie pjs. She can hold her head up pretty well. Currently, she is trying to roll over and loves to scoot around on her back. Her best friend is who I call Mirror Baby—she loves to chat with Mirror Baby. She has also started laughing—mostly when her daddy “gets” her neck. She is crazy about her daddy. Mommy still is the best at soothing and cuddling when she is fussy, but no one gets her to smile like Daddy.

10 Weeks Old

Every night we read Lottie a bed time story. When Chris reads Doggies, he does such a great job with the different barks that the dogs bark at him. We have a little video of it below. I only caught one bark from Winnie, but we thought the video was cute anyways. It looks like Winnie listens to the rest of the book and then looks exasperated when Chris does the cat noise at the end.

 

 

Chris put the boppy on his head and told Lottie he was a lion.

Play time--it is fun to compare it to a video at 1 month old of her playing on her play gym.

 She has so much more muscle control.

 

 

11 Weeks Old

 

One morning I found Lottie like this. Almost every night she scoots to the end of her crib, but this was a first.

 

 Sometimes Lottie and I lay like this and talk and play. Lottie likes to grab my hair and then turn and talk into my ear. We have very important Mommy-Daughter secrets. 



I think I may have it backwards here.

 

 

12 Weeks Old

 

 I forgot to mention this as an accomplishment for this period. Haha.

We think she accidentally fell asleep on her finger. No matter how it happened, it is going in her graduation and wedding slideshows.
